Baseball Team Takes Two of Three From Christian Brothers Over the Weekend

Box Score The Lindenwood baseball team closed out a weekend series against the Christian Brothers Bucs on Sunday afternoon with a 8-4 win in Memphis, Tenn. The Lions won two-of-three games over the weekend.

Lindenwood jumped out to an early lead scoring two runs in the first and second innings. The Bucs got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning with a single run.

The game stayed 4-1 for the next four innings. In the seventh inning, both teams brought across one run. Christian Brothers then cut Lindenwood's lead to one in the bottom of the eighth with a two run frame.

With the lead cut to just one the Lions added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning, and then held the home team scoreless in the last of the ninth.

Bruan Hruby (2-0) got the start for Lindenwood and went 6 1/3 giving up just one earned run and striking out seven. For the third straight game, Ryan Griffin came out of the bull pen. He recorded his third save of the year and second of the weekend after throwing the final two innings.

Ryan Light led the Lions with three hits in five at bats, and also drove in three runs. Wade Rothermich and Colton Moore each had two hits, and Zach Loraine scored and drove in a run.

With the win on Sunday, Lindenwood evens its season record at 6-6.
