Box Score The Lindenwood Lions baseball team kicked off its 2012 season with a 6-2 loss to Valdosta State in Valdosta, Ga. on Friday afternoon.
The Lions fell behind early when Valdosta scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Lindenwood cut into the lead in the third inning after a
Wade Rothermich RBI double. Valdosta answered right back with two more runs in the bottom of the third.
With the Lions trailing 6-1 in the fourth inning, the team was able to bring across a single tally to cut the lead to 6-2. But that would be the final run for either team the rest of the way.
The Lions were outhit 11-8 and committed one error on defense.
Zac Pearman started on the hill for Lindenwood and went eight innings giving up six earned runs, and striking out four.
Zach Loraine led the team with two hits in four atbats, while Rothermich and
Ryan Light each drove in a run.
The Lions will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they take on Saint Leo University in Valdosta, Ga.
