The Lindenwood men's volleyball team split two matches on Saturday at the Lindenwood Invitational, falling to Grand View and beating Park. The Lions finished their tournament with a 3-1 record and they are now 6-3 on the season.
Less than one week ago, Lindenwood fell to Park in five sets. The Lions got revenge with a 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, and 25-21 victory. Lindenwood received a boost in the match from the return of setter
Tim Schmidt. After missing three straight matches with an injury, Schmidt was inserted into the lineup early in the first set and helped spark the win with 47 assists.
Lindenwood also won with its defense. Park hit .333 on its way to a first-set victory. The rest of the match, Lindenwood held the Pirates to just a .175 mark. The Lions blocked 12 shots and had 51 digs in the match.
Jack Mitchell had a team-high 19 kills, seven blocks, and 23 points.
Michael Adams finished with 14 kills and
Scott Siwicki had 10.
Cory Buehler had 14 digs, and Adams and Schmidt each had 10.
Logan Jarus tied Mitchell with seven blocks.
In the first match of the day, the Lions lost to Grand View by scores of 25-21, 22-25, 25-18, and 25-15. Lindenwood hit just .131 for the match, including negative percentages for the final two sets. The Lions made 30 hitting errors, including 19 unforced miscues, and 11 service errors.
Mitchell led the Lions with 12 kills, followed by Adams with 10.
Christopher Cox had a team-high 41 assists, Buehler recorded 14 digs, and Jarus had eight blocks.
Lindenwood is off until next Friday when it travels to NCAA Division I Ball State for a 7:30 p.m. (eastern) contest.
