Baseball Team Finishes Off Weekend Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team closed out a four-game weekend sweep of the Trinity International Trojans on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo. with a 12-2 win in game one and a 4-3 walk off win in the second game.

 The Lions got out to an early lead in game one with a six run frame. Lindenwood got six runs on just three hits in the inning. The Lions added another run in the third and three more in the fifth to take a 10-2 lead. Lindenwood closed out the contest with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to close out the game.

Ryan Light led the way for the Lions with two hits and three RBIs. Wade Rothermich, Dylan Lowery, Ben Coudret, Colton Moore, and Jason Striegel all had one RBI. Lindenwood used five different pitchers in the game and gave up just two earned runs.

In game two, the Lions had two come from behind to sweep the Trojans. Trinity International scored three runs in the third inning to take the lead. In the bottom of the fifth, Lindenwood scored two runs to cut the lead to one.

The Lions were down to their final six outs and in the sixth inning Lindenwood tied the score via a balk. After the Lions held Trinity scoreless in the top of the seventh inning Lindenwood loaded the bases with two outs. The Lions won the game when Colton Moore was hit by a pitch.

Zach Loraine led the team with two RBIs and Tellor had two hits. Matt Meier started the game and went 2 1/3 of an inning. Ryan Griffin came out of the pen and went the final 4 2/3 innings giving up just two hits.

After the two wins Lindenwood improves its record to 10-9.
