Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team fell to Notre Dame de Namur in double overtime on Saturday afternoon at Hunter Stadium. The Argonauts scored 1:40 into the second extra period for a 6-5 win over the Lions.
The contest was back-and-forth all day with four ties and three lead changes. Lindenwood trailed 4-3 at halftime but took the lead with two third-quarter goals.
Josh Arras tied the team just over a minute into the period, and
Kyle O'Donnell put Lindenwood ahead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The two teams went nearly 20 minutes without scoring before Notre Dame de Namur tied the game with 5:10 remaining in regulation. After a scoreless first overtime, the Argonauts won the faceoff to start the second overtime and they never gave the ball up before the game-winning goal.
Lindenwood stayed in the game thanks to its defense which allowed just one goal in the second half.
Dan Ashlock made nine saves for the match, including three in the fourth quarter and two in the first overtime.
Jake Crews caused two turnovers, and a trio of players,
Andrew Peterson,
Carter McCracken, and
John Pettis had five groundballs.
McCracken led the offense with two goals and
Joe Roy also had a goal in the game. Peterson recorded two assists, and
McNein Hewitt and Grame Hossack each assisted on one goal.
Lindenwood falls to 2-2 on the season and 0-2 in WILA play. The Lions will face the No. 2 team in the country, Adelphi, on Monday at Hunter Stadium at 7 p.m.
