Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team split a pair of games against the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Saturday afternoon in Maryville, Mo. The Lady Lions fell in game one 7-6 and won game two 5-3.
The first game of the day saw the Lady Lions battle back from the third inning. Lindenwood was trailing 6-1 in the fourth inning and it didn't look good for the Lady Lions. But the visitors didn't give up. Lindenwood cut the lead down by two with a pair of runs in the sixth.
The Lady Lions had just three outs left and trailed by three. Lindenwood surprised the home team with a three run frame and sent the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, the Lady Lions were unable to break the tie. Unfortunately, in the bottom of the eighth the Bearcats brought in a run and won the game.
Megan Noe led the team going two-for-four with two runs scored.
Emily Johnson led the team with three RBIs.
Heidi Schertzer started in the circle for Lindenwood and went 3 1/3 innings.
To close out the day the Lady Lions jumped out to an early lead with a run in the top of the third inning. Lindenwood added to the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth. With the Lady Lions leading 3-0, the home team tied the score in the bottom of the fifth.
Lindenwood answered right back with two runs in the top of the sixth to regain the lead. Noe came in to close out the win throwing the final four innings.
Johnson once again led the team going two-for-three with a RBI. Macy Bros scored two runs while
Alexandra Newcomb and Noe scored once.
After going 1-1 on the day the Lady Lions run their record to 5-13. Lindenwood was set to play Truman tomorrow afternoon but as been cancelled.
