Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short Against No. 2 Team In NCAA Division II

Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team kept Monday evening's game at Hunter Stadium against No. 2 Adelphi close for nearly three quarters. The Panthers eventually pulled away though in the final 18 minutes for a 12-5 victory over the Lions.

Lindenwood only allowed one goal in the first quarter, but the Lions were shutout in the period. In the second quarter, Adelphi scored twice in the first five minutes to grab a 3-0 lead. Lindenwood finally got on the board with a man-advantage goal by Greg Cameron with 4:31 left in the half. The Panthers answered with a goal, but Lindenwood struck twice in the final minute to pull within 4-3. Carter McCracken scored the first goal in that stretch and he then set up Josh Arras for the other score.

Adelphi scored again in the early portion of the second half, but the Lions took advantage of another extra-man opportunity. This time, Jordan McKay found the back of the net after receiving a pass from Arras. That goal made the score 5-4, but it was also the last time that Lindenwood got within one goal.

Adelphi scored three times in the final three minutes of the third quarter, and outscored Lindenwood 4-1 in the fourth quarter. Lindenwood's final goal was scored by Andrew Peterson with an assist from John Pettis.

Lindenwood was outshot in the game by a 49-20 margin, including a 30-9 mark on shots on goal. In the final 30 minutes, the shot totals were 29 for the Panthers and just six for Lindenwood. The Lions stayed in the game thanks to a stellar game in goal by Jake Redlingshafer. Redlingshafer, in his first collegiate start, made 18 saves, including 15 in the first three quarters. Redlingshafer also led the team with six groundballs, and Grame Hossack finished with five groundballs and two caused turnovers.

Lindenwood falls to 2-3 on the season with the loss. The team begins a four-game road trip on March 23 with a conference contest at Colorado Mesa.
