Men's Volleyball Outhits Saint Xavier In 3-1 Victory

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team won its 15th match of the season on Friday night by outhitting Saint Xavier in Chicago, Ill. The Lions defeated the Cougars by scores of 23-25, 25-22, 25-18, and 25-14.

Lindenwood hit .300 or better in every set and finished the match with a .388 mark. After splitting the first two sets, the Lions took over the match in the third set when they had 14 kills and no errors in 26 attempts. Saint Xavier hit over .300 in the first set, but couldn't keep up with Lindenwood over the final three sets.

Evan Bruton had a career-night with 10 kills in just 13 attempts. He made just one hitting error and finished with a .692 attack percentage. Jack Mitchell led the team with 18 kills and Michael Adams finished with 12. Tim Schmidt had a career-high 50 assists.

On defense, Cory Buehler recorded 16 digs and Mitchell had a double-double after also recording 10 digs. Adams had nine digs and was perfect on 28 serve receives. Mitchell and Bruton both tied for the team-high with five blocks, and Logan Jarus had four blocks.

Lindenwood improves to 15-8 on the year. The Lions will face No. 6 Lewis on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Romeoville, Ill.
