The Lindenwood men's volleyball team fell short in its upset bid over No. 6 Lewis on Saturday night in Romeoville, Ill. The Lions fell to the Flyers by scores of 25-19, 25-20, and 25-16.
Lewis, one of the top hitting teams at the NCAA Division I-II level, showed off its offensive firepower by hitting .366 for the match. The Flyers had eight more kills and eight less hitting errors than the Lions, who hit .133.
Lewis also had an advantage serving. The Flyers had four aces and recorded sideouts 75 percent of the time. Lindenwood has just one ace and had sideouts for 56 percent of Lewis' serves.
Jack Mitchell continued his hot play of late for Lindenwood with a team-high 10 kills, three blocks, and a .316 hitting percentage.
Michael Adams added eight kills but no other Lion had more than three.
Tim Schmidt recorded 19 assists and
JM Plummer led the team with six digs.
Lindenwood falls to 15-9 on the season. The Lions will be off now until they start a five-match road trip to California and Arizona on March 26 at Hope International.
