Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team split a pair of games against the Northwestern State Riverhawks on Friday night in Tahlequah, Okla. The Lady Lions lost in game one 15-2 but won the second game 5-3.
The Riverhawks jumped out to an early lead in the opening game. Northeastern State scored eight runs in the opening inning to jump out to an early 8-0 lead. The Lady Lions cut into the deficit with two runs in the third but the Riverhawks scored seven runs in the fourth and the game ended in the fifth.
Lindenwood was out hit 15-5 and the Riverhawks committed two errors while the Lady Lions committed one.
After losing big in the first game Lindenwood responded in the second game. Northeastern State scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first but the Lady Lions answered with a three run top of the second. The home team tied the score in the bottom of the second with two runs.
With the game tied at three Lindenwood took the lead in the fourth inning with two runs. The defense held on to the game and the Lady Lions won 5-3.
Hannah Braun led the way at the plate going two-for-four with two RBIs and two runs.
Megan Noe had two hits and started on the mound and got the win after going 5 1/3 innings.
Kendall Ryndak and
Erin Pietzman each scored a run in the win.
After the doubleheader Lindenwood's record is now 6-14. Up next for the Lady Lions is a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against Central Oklahoma on the road.
