Lions Maintain Form against Collegiate Opponent

After facing three men's clubs in a row, men's rugby maintained their form against a collegiate foe as they stopped the University of Missouri 38-8 in a St. Patrick's Day contest at the Lindenwood Track.  About the only thing that slowed down the Lions was the weather as a severe storm delayed the start of the game for over an hour.

Once the skies cleared, Lindenwood fought off a flurry of possession from the Tigers early which eventually led to Brendan Davis crashing over the line for the first try of the game.  Stephen Duff added the conversion to give the Lions a 7-0 lead.  Flanker Tyler Black was the next to score for Lindenwood after some excellent work from the Lindenwood forwards.  As the clock moved towards halftime, physical play from Lions began to take its toll on Missouri and Davis took advantage as he waltzed through a huge gap to score his second try of the game.

Early in the second half, a string of Lindenwood penalties gave the Tigers an advantage and eventually their first score of the game.  But the Lions slammed the door on defense after that while adding tries from Mathius Harris, Austin Tijerina and Nicholas Markowski to put the game away.

Lindenwood improved to 12-0 against collegiate opponents for the season.  The Lions get a few weeks off before beginning the Western Division Rugby Football Union Playoffs against the University of Northern Colorado at the Lindenwood Track March 31.  With a win against the Bears, the Lions will advance to the championship game on April 1.
