Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team split a pair of games against the McKendree Bearcats on Wednesday night in St. Charles, Mo. The Lady Lions dropped a 3-2 game to the Bearcats in the first contest but won game two 6-1.
McKendree got on the scoreboard in the first inning of game one with a single tally. The Lady Lions answered in the home half of the first when
Alexandra Newcomb hit a home run over the left field wall.
Neither team was able to bring a run across in the next two innings, but in the top of the fourth Emily Mouyard hit a two-run home run to give the Bearcats a 3-1 lead. Lindenwood was able to cut the lead to one in the fourth but could not score the tying run.
Erin Pietzman and
Megan Noe each had two hits, and
Macy Bross drove in a run.
Megan Noe started in the circle for Lindenwood and gave up three earned runs while striking out four.
The second game was all Lady Lions. Lindenwood broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with three runs and then three more in the fifth. McKendree was able to score a run in the seventh but the Lady Lions held on for the victory.
Emily Johnson led the Lindenwood offense with three hits in three at bats, and also drove in three runs. Kaitlyn Siebert chipped in with two hits, and
Alyssa Esperum scored a pair of runs.
Kendall Ryndak started for the Lady Lions and went all seven innings giving up just one earned run.
After winning and losing a game on Wednesday Lindenwood runs its record to 7-17. Up next for the Lady Lions is a doubleheader against Fort Hays State on Friday afternoon at 1 p.m.
