Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse squad started out slow on Tuesday afternoon in San Rafael, Calif. and it cost the team in a 15-8 loss to conference rival Dominican of California.
The Lions did score the first goal of the contest, but Dominican answered with 13 straight goals. The Penguins scored nine times in the first quarter and added four more goals in the second quarter. Dominican won 12-of-16 faceoffs in the half and the extra possessions often resulted in quick back-to-back goals.
After being down 13-2 at halftime, Lindenwood won the final 30 minutes of play. The Lions outscored the Penguins 3-2 in the third quarter and 3-0 in the fourth. Lindenwood's defense allowed just six shots in the second half.
Andrew Peterson and
McNein Hewitt each had two goals and an assist, and
Andrew Szczepan added two goals.
Greg Cameron and
Josh Arras each scored once.
Richard Wilson led the team with six groundballs and
Dan Ashlock made five saves in goal.
Lindenwood falls to 3-5 on the season and 1-4 in conference play. The Lions end their current road trip on Thursday with a 3 p.m. (pacific) contest at Notre Dame de Namur.
