Baseball Defeats Wayland Baptist In 13 Innings

Box Score The Lindenwood baseball team earned a come-from-behind victory on Tuesday at Wayland Baptist. The Lions won in 13 innings by an 8-5 margin.

Lindenwood trailed 5-1 after four innings and was still down by one run in the top of the ninth inning. Mike Wilson and Jason Striegel opened the ninth with singles. After a bunt advanced each runner, Wilson tied the game on a passed ball.

In the 13th, Lindenwood again opened up the frame with two straight singles. A bunt and intentional walk loaded the bases with one out, and Striegel hit a sacrifice fly to score the go-ahead run.

Lindenwood's pitching staff was the story as it didn't allow a hit over the final seven innings. Ryan Griffin pitched four of those innings and got out all 12 batters he faced, including six strikeouts. He earned the win and Matt Meier got the save after pitching a scoreless 13th.

Offensively, Striegel finished with three hits and two RBIs. Eddie Sutton also drove in two runners and Matt Tellor scored twice. Colton Moore and Ryan Light each had three hits.

Lindenwood and Wayland Baptist will play a single-game again on Wednesday afternoon with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
