Baseball Team Explodes on Offense For a Win Over Wayland Baptist

Box Score The Lindenwood baseball team pounded out 14 runs and 16 hits in a 14-6 win over Wayland Baptist in Plainview, Texas on Wednesday night.

The contest started out like it was going to be a pitcher's duel. Neither team was able to score a run until the fourth inning when the Lions exploded. Lindenwood scored six runs on four hits capped off by a Colton Moore triple which scored two runs.

Wayland Baptist cut the Lions lead to one with three runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth. After the home team cut the lead to one, Lindenwood added to its lead with two runs in the sixth inning. The Lions piled onto their lead with six runs in the seventh inning to take a commanding lead.

Lindenwood outhit Wayland Baptist 16-15 and the Pioneers committed four errors. Wade Rothermich and Mike Wilson led the team with four hits each. Moore led the team with three RBIs, while Matt Tellor and Wade Rothermich each had two RBIs. Ryan Griffin got the start on the mound for the Lions going six innings and he earned his fifth win of the season.

With the win, the Lions improved their record to 15-12. Up next for Lindenwood is a Thursday game against Southwestern Oklahoma State.
