Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team dropped two games against the MIAA's top team, Pittsburg State. The Lady Lions fell 6-2 in game one and 7-2 in the final game.
The Gorillas got on the scoreboard in the early going. The visitors scored one run in the first and three more in the third to take a 4-0 lead. Pitt State's offense added two more runs in the fifth inning before Lindenwood mounted a late charge in the seventh. The Lady Lions were able to score two runs on three hits in the last inning but fell 6-2.
Kendall Ryndek led the way for Lindenwood on offense going two-for-three with two runs.
Megan Noe got the start on the mound and went 4 1/3 innings giving up five earned runs.
Pitt State jumped out to an early lead in game two also. The Gorillas scored two runs in the second followed by two in the third and three more in the fourth. The Lions did not get their first hit until the fourth inning, and their first runs until the sixth. Lindenwood was unable to muster any more runs and fell 7-2.
Emily Johnson led the way for the Lions with two hits and a RBI.
Kimberleigh Griffin started on the mound and went three innings and surrendered six earned runs.
After being swept, Lindenwood dropped its season record to 9-23. The Lions get no rest as the team will be back on the field Saturday afternoon against Missouri Southern.
