Box Score 2 For the second straight series against a future MIAA opponent, the Lindenwood softball team split a doubleheader. This time the Lady Lions split against the Truman Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon in Kirksville, Mo. In the first game, Lindenwood was unable to get a hit or a run and fell 14-0. The second game was much different. The Lady Lions offense woke up and won 4-1.
To start the doubleheader, Truman's starting pitcher Kelsea Dorsey completely shut down the Lindenwood offense. The only two base runners the Lady Lions mustered were to hitters who were hit by a pitch. Dorsey gave up no hits, no runs, no walks, and struck out seven.
The final game of the day was a little different than the first. Both teams started off the contest scoring a run in the first inning. Lindenwood took the lead in the fourth inning with two runs, and then added some insurance in the sixth with a single run.
Heidi Schertzer started on the rubber for the Lady Lions and went seven innings giving up just six hits and one earned run.
Kate Keaton led the team at the plate going two-for-three with a run scored.
After the split Lindenwood's record is now 13-27. Up next for the Lady Lions is a road doubleheader against Emporia State on April 14.
