Softball Ends Season With a Split Against McKendree

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team ended its 2012 season with a split against the McKendree Bearcats on Wednesday afternoon in Lebannon, Ill. The Bearcats won the first game 5-0 and the Lady Lions won game two 2-1.

All the runs in game one were scored in just two innings. McKendree opened up the scoring with a single tally in the second inning. The home team added to the lead with four runs in the fourth inning and cruised to the 5-0 lead.

The Lindenwood offense was only able to muster three hits. Kimberleigh Griffin started in the circle for the Lady Lions and went three innings.

Lindenwood won the second game of the doubleheader after scoring the game winning run in the top of the seventh inning. McKendree took the early lead with a run in the second but the Lady Lions tied the score in the fourth. Erin Pietzman singled up the middle in the seventh to score Macy Bross and give the visitors the lead for good.

Pietzman led the team at the plate in the second game going three-for-three with a RBI. Heidi Schertzer started on the rubber for Lindenwood and went four innings.

The Lady Lions close out their season with a record of 16-32.
