Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team's offense was held to just one run in a two-game sweep at the hands of the Columbia College Cougars. The Lady Lions won the first game 7-0 and fell in the second game 6-1.
Columbia College jumped out to an early lead with single runs in the first and the second inning. The Cougars starter Jordan Crisp had her way with the Lindenwood offense. After the Lady Lions had a hit in the first inning Crisp set down the next 10 hitters.
Columbia College added two runs in the sixth and the seventh inning and won the game 7-0. Lindenwood only mustered three hits, and the defense committed three errors.
Emily Johnson led the team with two hits in three at bats.
It was just one inning in the second game that spelled doom for the home team. The Cougars scored six runs on just three hits and took a commanding 6-0 lead. The Lady Lions scored a run in the fifth inning and that was all.
Lindsay Schroder, Kaitlyn Siebert, and
Alexandra Newcomb all had two hits.
Kate Keaton drove in the team's only run.
After the sweep Lindenwood drops its record to 11-25. Up next for the Lady Lions is a doubleheader at home against the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Thursday night at 5 p.m.
