Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lions starting pitchers dominated in a two-game sweep of the Truman State Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon in Kirksville, Mo.
Dylan Terrell started game one and gave up just two hits and no runs in a 13-0 win. Senior
Ryan Griffin made his last start of his college career and went all seven innings giving up just one run in a 12-1 win.
The Lion scored all 13 of their runs in the final four innings of game one. Lindenwood started the scoring in the fourth with four runs, then four more in the sixth, and five more in the seventh. The Lions outhit the Bulldogs 11-2.
Eddie Sutton led the team with three hits, and also drove in two runs. Zach Zurzejeski drove in three runs while
Mario Parra,
Jason Striegel, and Sutton all drove in two.
Game two was much of the same for the Lindenwood offense. The Lions jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the third inning. The visitors added to the lead with a run in fifth, five more in the sixth, and one more in the seventh. Lindenwood outhit Truman State 17-6 in the finale.
All but one of the Lions starters had at least one hit, and all but three scored a run.
Matt Tellor and Sutton led the team with three hits apiece. Sutton also led the team with four RBIs, while
Ryan Light drove in three.
Griffin, making his final appearance as a Lion, started just his second game of the year and earned his first complete game. The senior gave up just six hits, one run, and struck out five. He ended the season with a record of 6-1, and ERA of 1.65, and 11 saves.
Lindenwood ended the 2012 season on a six-game winning streak and compiled a record of 30-19.
