Lindenwood University is pleased to announce it has signed an agreement with Daktronics, a worldwide leader in video displays, for a new scoreboard, a video display, and a video scorer's table for Hyland Arena.
The new LED scoreboard is a major upgrade over the existing 16-year-old scoreboard, which was among the oldest in Missouri. The 10' x 15' 10mm video display and the 40' 10mm video scorer's table will significantly enhance the environment in Hyland not only for basketball, but volleyball, wrestling and other Hyland Arena sports.
“This will be a game-changer for our fans and our student-athletes,” said Athletics Director
John Creer. “Hyland Arena is already a great venue, but these improvements will add even more energy to the building. And the timing couldn't be better. We are beginning our inaugural season this fall in the MIAA, and we hope to soon be accepted into the NCAA as provisional members.”
Creer was quick to praise Lindenwood President James D. Evans, the Lindenwood board of directors, and the athletics staff for their support of the video project.
“We did a lot of fund-raising in a very short time,” said Creer. “I am grateful to all of our donors, who continue to step up and support us. Now we have to go out and sell some sponsorships.”
The crow's nest in Hyland Arena will become the control room for the video products, and the athletics department will work hand-in-hand with LUTV to provide superior video coverage of all Lindenwood men's and women's basketball games. Creer said the new video products will open up even more opportunity for students to be involved in video production.
“We appreciate Dean Mike Wall and his staff and all of the advice they have provided during our year-long exploration into video improvements in Hyland,” said Creer. “Their ongoing involvement and expertise is invaluable.”
Installation of the new Daktronics products is expected in late August.
“Daktronics is excited to partner with Lindenwood University again,” said Brady Jacobsen, regional sales at Daktronics. “The new scoreboard and the video displays will make a big impact and will amp up the excitement for the fans and for the players.”
