Field Hockey Starts Season With 3-2 Double-Overtime Victory

Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team opened its 2012 season with a thrilling 3-2 double-overtime road victory over the Bellarmine Knights on Friday.

Lindenwood started the scoring 11:42 in with a goal by Lynsey Porter. Eight minutes later Erin de Jesus put the Lady Lions up by two with another tally.

The Knights bounced back, however, tying the game before the end of the half. The match went scoreless for the next 54 minutes until Lindenwood's Kayleigh Harrower scored the game-winning goal four minutes into the second overtime.

The Lady Lions recorded 16 corners as the Knights recorded nine. Ana Maria Llosa recorded assists on both regulation tallies and Gil Victoria recorded nine saves.

Lindenwood will stay in Louisville to face Indiana University of Pennsylvania Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
