Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team fell to Ball State University 8-2 Sunday morning in Muncie, Indiana. The road matchup marked the first of two against a NCAA Division I program this season for the Lady Lions.
Ball State struck first just 2:48 into the matchup. The redbirds' next two goals came two minutes apart. An own goal by Lindenwood made the score 4-0 at the end of the first half.
Ball State tallied its fifth goal 2:37 into the second half. The Lady Lions answered with a goal by
Emily Stephens, her first of the season. Stephens made it 6-2 with her second of the game with 14 minutes remaining but wouldn't be enough to boost Lindenwood to a comeback. The Redbirds would go on to score two more to make the final 8-2.
Victoria Gil started her 6
th game in net for the Lady Lions. Gil recorded six saves on 14 shots while Lindenwood posted four shots on goal for the contest. The Redbirds held a 16 to two advantage in corners.
The Lady Lions are now 2-4 on the season and will be back on the road September 29
th against Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee.
