Field Hockey Shuts Out Hendrix College

Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team shut out Hendrix College 4-0 Sunday afternoon in Conway, Ark.

The first goal of the game did not come until two minutes left in the first half. Lindenwood's leading scorer, Kristi O'Connor, capitalized on a penalty stroke to put the Lady Lions ahead 1-0 going into the half. O'Connor is averaging a goal a game and has recorded 18 total points this season.  

Lindenwood jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second half scoring three goals in a six minute span. The first goal came nine minutes into the half off the stick of Emily Stephens. Lynsey Porter added to the lead with two goals in 3 minutes. Porter's two goals marked her third and fourth of the year. O'Connor and Ana Maria Llosa recorded assists on the first two goals of the second half.

The 4-0 victory marks the second shut out on the season for Victoria Gil who has started in all eight of Lindenwood's games this season. The Lady Lions did not allow a shot on goal the entire 70 minutes of Sunday's game and recorded eight shots on goal in the contest.

Lindenwood is now 4-4 on the season and will host Hendrix College at Hunter Stadium on November 10th for its first home game of the year. The rematch is the start of a four-game home stand for the Lady Lions.
