The Lindenwood men's volleyball team wrapped up its weekend series with Ohio State with a loss against the No. 11 Buckeyes. Lindenwood fell 3-0 and fell by scores of 25-21, 25-23, and 25-20 at Hyland Arena.

The Lions started off hot on Sunday afternoon, jumping out to a 5-1 lead and forcing Ohio State to use its first timeout. Michael Adams recorded one service ace in that span to go along with two kills by Kyle Overby. Ohio State retaliated back after the timeout, sparking a 9-3 run that put them up 10-8.

Lindenwood hung with the Buckeyes, battling back to bring it to a tie at 12-12. Both squads would exchange leads until 16-16 when the Lions used back-to-back kills by setter Tim Schmidt to go up by two. Ohio State then bounced back once again to regain the lead and take the first set.

The two squads would seesaw back and forth in the second set before Lindenwood would capitalize on a kill by Scott Siwicki and three consecutive Buckeye hitting errors to go up 12-8. Lindenwood led 20-16 but was outscored 9-3 in the remainder of the set. Both teams struggled on offense in the second set, as Lindenwood posted a team hitting percentage of .044 and the Buckeyes hit at just a .108 clip.

The third set started off with 10 ties between the Lions and the Buckeyes in the first 20 points. Ohio State broke out and went on a 7-2 run that put them up 17-12. Lindenwood never would recover, only coming within three on two occasions before the end of the set.

Ohio State hit at a .295 clip for the afternoon while holding Lindenwood to just a .183 mark. Colin Hackworth led the Lindenwood attack with 11 kills while Michael Adams and Kyle Overby added eight a piece. Siwicki hit .455 for the afternoon behind six kills on 11 attempts. He also led the Lindenwood defense with six block assists. Cory Buehler led the Lions with 10 digs and Schmidt had a team-high 31 assists.

Lindenwood will hit the Hyland Arena court on Tuesday for a non-conference match-up against Missouri Baptist. First serve is at 7 p.m.
