Lions Back in Action at Home Against Missouri Southern

Upcoming Game

• The Lindenwood Lions are back on the Hyland Arena floor for the third straight home game and second straight MIAA game. Lindenwood welcomes the Missouri Southern State Lions to St. Charles.

• Head Coach Brad Soderberg will be trying to earn his 300th career win as a collegiate head coach.

• Lindenwood is coming off a 96-82 win over the Truman State Bulldogs and have now won four games in a row.  

• Missouri Southern enters tonight's game with a record of 7-4 overall and 2-1 in MIAA play. Missouri Southern is coming off a 95-69 win over Missouri Western.

Lindenwood Notes

• This season the Lions are scoring 80.9 points a game. That total ranks first in the MIAA.

• This season's roster consists of five seniors and those seniors are leading the way. The group is scoring 68 percent of the team's average points per game.

• Senior forward Richie Thompson has been dominating the glass this season. His average of 7.8 is third in the MIAA.

Richie Thompson has led the team in rebounding six times. He has also led the team in blocks five times.
 
Brett Thompson is shooting 69 percent from the field which is the best in the MIAA. He is almost seven percent higher than number two in the league.  

• The Lions have made at least five threes in every game but once this season. The season high in made threes was 12 against William Woods.

• When the Lions score at least 80 points the team is 4-0 and when the team scores over 70 the team is 6-2.

Alex Bazzell has been the Lions go to scorer so far this season. He has led the team in scoring in seven-of-11 games.

• Earlier this season, Bazzell scored his 1,000 career point as a Lindenwood Lion. He becomes the ninth Lion in program history to reach the milestone.

• Senior Cody Sorenson has been strong from behind the three-point line. He has made at least two threes in every game but three. His high of the season was against Missouri S&T when he made four.

• The Lions have outrebounded its opponents this season by a 449-346 margin. When the team grabs more rebounds it is 8-1, There has only been two games this year when the Lions have lost the rebounding battle.

• Over the past two seasons, the Lions have seen overtime numerous times. In 2011-12, the team played three overtime games. The team has already played in three over time games. The Lions have a 2-4 record in overtime since last season.

• When the Lions have outrebounded its opponents the team has won all but one game.

• Through 11 games this season, the team's opponents are shooting just 40 percent from the field and 34 percent from behind the line.

• The Lions have shot 108 more free throws than their opponents. When the team shoots more free throws than its opponents, the team is 8-1.

• Lindenwood has outscored its opponents in both the first half and the second half this season. But the second half has been the Lions best. The team has outscored its opponents 468-360 in the final 20 minutes.

• If the Lions hold their opponents to 69 points or less the team is 6-0. If the opposition scores more than 69 the team is 2-3.

• With the win against Truman the Lions won their first ever MIAA conference game.

• After playing a season without a conference the Lions will play this year in the MIAA. Lindenwood will play 18 conference games.

• The Hyland Arena floor has been very good to the Lions since Brad Soderberg took over. In his first four seasons, Lindenwood is 45-6 at home.  

• For the first time in school history the Lions have had three consecutive 20 win seasons. All three seasons have been under the watchful eye of Coach Soderberg.

• The Lions return seven of their top eight scorers from last season's squad. The only loss was Kramer Soderberg who averaged 17.9 points. 

Missouri Southern Notes

• The Missouri Southern State Lions come to the Hyland Arena to take on the Lions. The Lions come to town with a record of 7-4 overall and are 2-1 in conference play. Missouri Southern won its last game against conference foe, Missouri Western. Missouri Southern is 2-2 on the road this season.

• As a team Missouri Southern is averaging 70.2 points a game on offense and is surrendering just 64.3 points on the defensive side of the floor. The Lions are shooting 45 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the three-point line.

• Missouri Southern is led by Marquis Addison who scores 17.8 points a game. Jordan Talbert is second on the team with 12.9 points and leads the team in rebounds with 6.7.

• Robert Corn is the head coach of the Lions and is in his 24th season at the helm.
