Box Score The Lindenwood women's soccer team played in another overtime game defeating Emporia State 1-0 in St. Charles, Mo.
The first half was a defensive battle as Lindenwood registered just three shots while Emporia had 2 shots. Each team had one shot on goal and the Lady Lions had the only corner kick of the half.
Play picked up in the second half as each team had quality opportunities to get the first goal of the game. Shannon Thomas of Emporia hit the crossbar within the first seven minutes of the second half. Nearly 10 minutes later
Taylor Wade gave Lindenwood its best chance as she hit the crossbar as the Lions could not find the back of the net.
Both teams traded shots in the last 15 minutes as Lindenwood had the best opportunity in regulation as
Taylor Wade hit the post with 38 second in the game which bounced to the foot of
Bailey Cody who could not settle the ball to get a good shot and it was saved.
The Lady Lions took early possession in the first overtime and was determined to gain another conference win at home.
Kirsten Crabtree moved the ball to
Miranda Huebner setting her up for the shot. Huebner fired one from the side beating the goalkeeper for her first goal of the season and a Lady Lions victory.
After the overtime thriller the Lady Lions move to 8-4-1 overall with a 5-0-1 MIAA record. Lindenwood will return to action on Sunday when they face Washburn at 3 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.
