The 2013-14 season in Lindenwood swimming and diving got underway on Friday night in Columbia, Mo. at the 2013 Show-Me Showdown. The men's team finished third with the women earning a fourth place finish out of a total of eight teams.
The men's team totaled 355 points behind second-place Missouri State and first-place and host University of Missouri. The women posted a total score of 313.50 points behind Drury, Missouri State, and Mizzou.
For the Lions,
Gustavo Silva Santa starred with a win in the 200 yard freestyle. He posted a time of 1:39:96 to earn the victory in the fourth male event of the day. Silva Santa also saw another victory in the 500 yard swim with a total time of 4:33:39.
The women started the event of with a fifth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay out of 17 participating groups of teams. The
Lady Lions' relay team consisted of
Jocelyn Woo,
Storrie Cramer, Maike Tweesmann, and
Niki Dahl.
The men improved on their fourth place finish in this same event from a year ago with the women matching their fourth place finish.
Next up for the swimming and diving teams is an event at Truman State on Oct.19 in Kirksville, Mo.
