Box Score The Lindenwood Lions scored their highest point total since 2011, in a 116-93 win over the Benedictine-Springfield Bulldogs on Thursday night in St. Charles.
The night started out quickly for the visiting Bulldogs, as they scored the game's first nine points. Lindenwood answered the run by scoring the next 10 points. The Lions would eventually take an eight point lead with nine minutes to play in the opening half.
That lead did not last long as Benedictine-Springfield went on an 8-0 run to tie up the score. Over the next five minutes, the team's traded the lead four times and eventually the Lions took a one-point advantage into the locker room.
After the Lions came out of the halftime break it was all Lindenwood. Â The home team started the second half with a 26-11 run to take a 15-point lead. The offense continued to click as the Lindenwood lead would grow to as many as 27.
The new NCAA rules to increase offense came into play in the second half. There were 29 fouls called in the second half and 48 free throws taken by the two teams. For the game, the two teams combined for 76 free throws.
Five Lions scored in double figures, led by
Tyler Ressel who scored a career-high 25 points.
Aaron Ramirez also scored his career-high 18 points while also grabbing seven rebounds.
Darris Smith chipped in with 14 points while
Sam Mader and
Michael Boos each scored 11.
Lindenwood shot 64 percent from the field and 55 percent from behind the three-point line. The Lions outrebounded the Bulldogs 37-34.
The win improves Lindenwood to 3-4 on the season. Up next for the Lions is another home game next Tuesday against University of Illinois-Springfield.
