Volleyball Picks Up Second Straight Victory

Box Score With its second victory in as many matches, the Lindenwood men's volleyball team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering in a non-conference match, 3-0. The Lions won by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 26-24.
 
Junior outside hitter Michael Adams led the Lions attack, recording 16 kills in the three-set match at a clip of .344.
 
After exchanging leads through the first points of the set, Lindenwood capitalized on a Raider service error by scoring four-straight points to go up 10-7. The Lions kept control throughout the set, never relinquishing their lead. Milwaukee came within one at 22-21, but back-to-back kills by Casey Calder gave Lindenwood set points. A kill by Adams gave the Lions the first set.
 
Milwaukee came fighting back in the second set, jumping out to a 4-1 lead. The Lions cut the Raiders lead to one after another kill by Adams, but Milwaukee answered back to go up by as many as five halfway through the set.
 
The Lions never gave up in the set, producing an 8-3 run to tie the game at 18-all.  The Raiders answered with two points of their own before three kills by Adams and a pair of kills by Tim Huizinga rewarded the Lions with set point.
 
The third set brought runs on both sides of the net. Milwaukee once again jumped out to an early 7-3 lead before Lindenwood answered with four points of its own to tie it up at 7-all. The Lions and the Raiders proceeded to exchange runs before the score returned to a tie at 17-17. Lindenwood threatened Milwaukee with a pair of set points before closing out the set off of an attack error by the Raiders.
 
Huizinga joined Adams as part of the double-digit kill club by adding 12 out of Lindenwood's 42 kills. The Lions hit .194 for the evening. Chris Cox recorded a floor-high 35 assists and David Poole led all players with nine digs.
 
Lindenwood improves to 3-6 on the year and 1-1 in non-conference matches. The Lions will continue its road trip by heading to Kenosha, Wis. for a pair of non-conference matches against St. Xavier and Carthage on Saturday.
