Volleyball Picks Up Weekend Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood men's volleyball team picked up the sweep on Saturday afternoon as they defeated St. Xavier 3-0 and Carthage 3-2 at the Carthage Triangular.
 
In the first match, Lindenwood hit .241 en route to a 25-16, 25-21, and 25-21 victory over the Cougars. Tim Huizinga continued to help lead the Lions offensive attack, producing a team-high 10 kills at a .316 clip. Huizinga also led the team with five service aces in the match. Michael Adams pitched in eight kills and three digs in the match.
 
Setter Tim Schmidt led the Lions with 30 out of the teams 32 assists in the first match. David Poole led all players on the floor with 10 digs.
 
The Lions came out on top in a five-set thriller against host school Carthage, winning by scores of 18-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-23, 15-12.
 
Three Lindenwood players recorded double-digit kills in the contest, with sophomore Colin Hackworth leading the way with 17. Huizinga added 15 kills in four sets played and Adams recorded 14 kills. Schmidt recorded a double-double with 47 assists to go along with 15 digs. Poole led all players on the floor with 18 digs in the match.
 
The Lions improve to 5-6 after picking up the sweep this weekend. Lindenwood will be off until next Thursday when it heads to the Carolina's for three more non-conference matches. The Lions will start with a match against Belmont Abbey on February 21.
