Men's Lacrosse Picks Up First Victory

Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team scored seven unanswered goals in the fourth quarter for a 15-8 victory over Florida Tech on Saturday afternoon in Melbourne, Fla.

The Lions led 3-2 after one quarter and extended their lead to 7-4 at halftime. Florida Tech came back though in the third and tied the game at eight with a goal with 31 seconds remaining in that period.

The fourth quarter was all Lions though as they scored seven times in the first 12 minutes to pull away for a big win. Lindenwood outshot Florida Tech 14-3 in that quarter. It had an 18-2 advantage in groundballs and won seven-of-eight faceoffs. Six different Lions scored in the period and Carter McCracken had two scores. Matt Schenk had the game-winning goal just 44 seconds into the period.

Brandon Stuebing and Joe Roy both had a team-high three goals and each also recorded an assist. Andrew Peterson had two goals and one assist, and McCracken and Hossack each finished with two goals. Jon George had a hand in three goals with one goal and two assists. Schenk had the other Lindenwood goal, and Mike Meagher and John Pettis each had an assist.

Jake Redlingshafer earned the win in goal, making 10 saves in the game. Michael Helfant won 22-of-25 faceoffs and tied for the team-high with nine groundballs. Hossack also had nine groundballs, followed by Peterson and Pettis with seven each.

Lindenwood improves to 1-1 on the year. The Lions end their Florida trip Sunday afternoon with a contest at Rollins.
