Lions Hit Three Home Runs in Win Over Northwest Missouri

Box Score The Lindenwood Lions hit three home runs in an 11-5 win over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats on Sunday night. The game was played at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, Ill. due to poor field conditions in Maryville, Mo. and St. Charles, Mo.

Northwest Missouri started the scoring off in the second inning with a single tally. The Lions answered right back in the top of the third. After a Wade Rothermich single and a Ben Coudret triple, Lindenwood tied the score at one.

The inning wasn't over for the Lions as Colton Moore hit his first home run of the season over the right field wall. After Ryan Light grounded out to second, Mike Wilson hit Lindenwood's second round tripper in the inning to give the Lions a 4-1 lead.

The Lions added to the lead in fifth with two more runs. In the sixth inning, Nathan Prindle led off the frame with a solo home run to right. Lindenwood added two more runs in the inning and led by a 9-1 score.

In the eighth inning the Lions added to the lead with a pair of runs and led 11-1. The Bearcats scored two runs in the eighth and the ninth via a pair of two run homers. But that was all Northwest would get and fell to Lindenwood 11-5.

Dylan Terrell started on the hill for the Lions and earned his second straight win. He surrendered just one run on four hits and struck out eight.

Lindenwood outhit the Bearcats 15-7 and Northwest Missouri committed three errors. Rothermich, Light, and Leslie led the way with three hits each. Leslie drove in four runs while Moore scored three runs.

After the win Lindenwood approves to 3-5 overall and 3-1 in MIAA play. The Lions and the Bearcats will play again tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Sauget, Ill.
