Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team finished its Florida trip with a thrilling 16-15 double-overtime victory over Rollins on Sunday afternoon in Winter Park, Fla.
After a scoreless first overtime, Rollins won the opening faceoff in the second extra period.
Graeme Hossack forced a turnover and picked up the groundball to give Lindenwood the possession. Just 12 seconds into the period,
John Pettis then scored the game-winning goal for the Lions.
The sudden-victory goal helped Lindenwood avoid another fourth-quarter setback. The Lions built a comfortable 8-3 lead after one half and led 13-8 early in the final quarter. The Tars responded though by outscoring Lindenwood 7-2 for the rest of regulation, including two goals in the final minute of play to force overtime.
Rollins outshot Lindenwood 48-37 in the game, including a 33-16 mark in the third and fourth periods. The Lions won though thanks to their goalkeeping as
Dan Ashlock made 17 saves and had a .531 save percentage, compared to eight saves and a .333 save percentage for the Rollins goalie.
Greg Cameron led Lindenwood's offense with three goals and three assists, and
Matt Schenk had a team-high four goals.
Carter McCracken finished with one goal and three assists and
Graeme Hossack had a pair of goals.
Defensively, Hossack had eight groundballs and six caused turnovers.
Mike Meagher was second on the team with seven groundballs.
Lindenwood improves to 2-1 on the season. The Lions are off until their home opener on March 6 against Shorter.
