Lady Lions Close out NSIC/MIAA Crossover Tournament With a Win and a Loss

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team went 1-1 on the final day of the NSIC/MIAA Crossover Tournament in Rochester, Minn. The Lady Lions won the first game of the day 5-3 in dramatic fashion over Upper Iowa but dropped the second game 11-4 to Minnesota State-Mankato.  

In the first game of the day Lindenwood was trailing 3-1 in the seventh inning when Kate Keaton hit a grand slam to give the Lady Lions the come from behind win. It was Keaton's first home run of the season.

The final game of the weekend wasn't as kind to Lindenwood. Minnesota State-Mankato scored early and often. The Mavericks scored three runs in the first, two more in the second, and two in the fourth.

The Lady Lions were outhit against Minnesota State 13-10 with the Mavericks hitting four home runs. Courtney Kitson led the way for Lindenwood with three hits in four at bats. Alyssa Esperum drive in two runs in the loss.

The Lady Lions ended the tournament in Minnesota with a record of 2-3. Lindenwood is now 5-7 on the season. The team will play its home opener on March 2 against Blackburn and Morthland College.
