On Tap For The Lindenwood Lions
• After taking almost a week off, the Lindenwood Lions will head to Illinois for a pair of conference matches against Lewis and Loyola-Chicago.
• The Lions will take on Lewis on Friday while hitting the floor against Loyola-Chicago on Saturday. First serve in both matches is scheduled for 7 p.m.
About the Flyers
• Under the direction of head coach Dan Friend, the Lewis Flyers have compiled a 6-5 overall record and a 2-0 mark in the MIVA.
• Lewis lost five out of the first six matches on its schedule, but is currently riding on a five-match winning streak.
• The most recent victories for the Flyers were against conference opponent in Grand Canyon. Lewis won by scores of 3-1 and 3-2 out in Phoenix, Ariz.
• As a team, the Flyers have recorded an average of 11.5 kills per set at a .249 hitting percentage. They have outblocked their opponents 121.5 to 97.0 this season.
• Geoff Powell is one of the primary offensive threats for the Flyers as he leads the team in kills with 166 at 3.61 kills per set. Jay Petty is second on the team with 115 kills.
• BJ Boldog is the team's primary setter, tallying 448 assists this season in 11 matches.
• Bobby Walsh has recorded 43 total blocks this season, averaging 0.93 blocks per set.
About the Ramblers
• Loyola-Chicago has started the season off with a 7-5 overall record with Shane Davis at the helm.
• After losing its first three matches of the season, Loyola-Chicago has won seven out of the last nine matches, including a three-match winning streak.
• Loyola-Chicago will play in its first conference match of the season against Quincy on February 8, right before hosting Lindenwood on February 9.
• The Ramblers average 12.6 kills per set as a team at a .301 clip.
• In 12 matches this season, the Ramblers have not had a match go to five sets.
• Joseph Smalzer leads the Rambler attack, averaging 3.90 kills per set.
• Diego Rodriguez has recorded 389 assists this season.
Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood looks to move to .500 in MIVA play as it travels to Illinois for two more conference matches this week.
• Last week, Lindenwood garnered its first conference victory, beating IPFW in four sets. The next night, the Lions took the undefeated Ball State to five sets before falling.
• In the victory over IPFW, the Lions hit .241 as a team while holding the Mastodons to a .115 clip.
• Sophomore
Colin Hackworth is averaging 3.30 kills per set. That mark puts him seventh in the conference.

Tim Schmidt, the primary setter for the Lions, has recorded 195 assists this season. The mark of 9.75 assists per set puts him fifth in the conference in that category. He also leads the team with eight service aces.
• Picking up where they left off last season,
Logan Jarus and
Scott Siwicki are leading the squad in blocks. Jarus has recorded 17 total blocks, including four solo, where Siwicki leads the team with 19 total blocks.

Cory Buehler leads the team with 53 digs, averaging 2.79 digs per set. He is currently second in the conference in digs.
• Lindenwood is outblocking its opponents 44.5 total blocks compared to 38.5 total blocks.
• Against Ball State,
Cory Buehler recorded 17 digs, tying his career-high.
• Lindenwood is second in the MIVA in service aces per set, averaging 1.35 per set.
MIVA Conference
• Lindenwood is the eighth and newest member to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference.
• The Lions were picked seventh in the MIVA preseason poll. Lewis was picked as the MIVA preseason favorite while Loyola was picked second.
• The Lions finished 3-6 against MIVA opponents last season, including 3-1 over the last four matches.
Next Up For The Lions
• Lindenwood will return to the Hyland Arena floor on February 13 as they host Quincy. The Lions will then travel to Wisconsin for a pair of non-conference matches on Friday and Saturday against Milwaukee School of Engineering and Carthage.
