Lions Drop First Two Games Of The 2013 Season

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team dropped a pair of games in the first day of the 2013 season to Southwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Lions fell in game one by an 8-5 score and by an 11-3 score in game two.

In game one Lindenwood was able to get on the board early as they put up two runs in the first inning.  Wade Rothermich started the game with a single and advanced all the way to third on two errors by the pitcher.  Nathan Prindle singled to bring in Rothermich for the first run of the game.  Prindle later scored on a single by Ryan Light

Southwestern Oklahoma was able to tie the game in the second when Bryce Stout hit a two-run homerun.  In the third, the Bulldogs had three doubles including a two-run double by Bryce Stout who later scored to make the game 5-2 after three innings of play.  Immediately the Lions bounced back and put up three runs of their own in the top of the fourth.  The Lions put up four singles in the inning including an RBI single by Nathan Prindle, earning his second hit and second RBI of the day. 

Lindenwood could not hold Southwestern Oklahoma down as the Bulldogs put up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 7-5 game after four innings.  The Lions were held hitless and were not able to mount a comeback in the seven-inning game.  Nathan Prindle and Ben Coudret had two hits apiece in game one.

In the second game the Lions were unable to keep the Bulldogs from putting runs on the board.  Lindenwood committed four errors in the game and walked six batters.  The Bulldogs had three big innings, putting up three in the second and sixth as well as four runs in the fifth.  Rothermich, Light and Kyle Leslie each had two hits in the game.  Light also scored all three runs for the Lions.

Lindenwood drops to 0-2 to start the 2013 season. The Lions will take on Southwestern Oklahoma State again on Sunday for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
