Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team travelled to Jefferson City, Mo. to take on the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Tuesday afternoon and the teams split a pair of games. The Lady Lions won the first game 3-0 and the Blue Tigers won game two 8-0.
The opening game of the day was dominated by the pitching staffs of both teams. Neither team was able to muster one run in the first seven innings of the contest. It wasn't until the eighth inning when Lindenwood finally broke through.
The Lady Lions were able to score three runs on five hits to take the 3-0 lead. The bottom of the eighth inning saw Lincoln get one runner on base but that was all it could do and fell in the opening game.
Kendall Ryndak started in the circle for the Lady Lions and went seven strong inning surrendering just four hits while striking out seven.
Brooke Miller pitched the bottom of the eighth and earned her first save of the season.
Courtney Kitson led the team on offense with three hits while also scoring a run.
Courtney Opich chipped in with a pair of hits and
Alexandra Newcomb drove in two runs.
The second game was all Lincoln. The Blue Tigers scored eight run in just five innings while pounding out nine hits. Lincoln score six runs in the first three innings and cruised to the victory.
After the split Lindenwood runs its record to 9-11 overall and 2-2 in MIAA play. The Lady Lions return home on March 22 against Pittsburg state for a doubleheader.
