Softball Swept at Home by Pittsburg State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team was swept at home on Friday afternoon by the Pittsburg State Gorillas. Pittsburg State won the first game 14-2 and game two 6-4.
 
The first game started with Pitt State and Lindenwood scoring a pair of runs in the first inning. But unfortunately for the Lady Lions the rest of the day was all Gorillas.
 
Pitt State scored a run in the second then put up a five spot in the fifth, a single run in the sixth, and another five spot in the seventh. The visitors outhit Lindenwood 16-8 and sent two pitches over the fence.
 
Erin Pietzman led the Lady Lions with two hits. Kendall Ryndak and Mallory Eitel each scored a run.
 
The final game of the day started with Lindenwood taking a 3-0 lead into the third inning. Pitt State cut into the lead with single tallies in the fourth and the fifth. Lindenwood continued to lead until the sixth when the Gorillas offense capitalized on two Lady Lion's errors and scored four runs.
 
Lindenwood was able to score a single tally in the bottom half of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to two. But the home team went down in order in the bottom of the seventh and fell 6-4.
 
Ryndak led the offense with two hits in four at bats and drove in three runs. Pietzman compiled two hits and Hannah Braun scored twice.
 
After the two losses the Lady Lions drop their overall record to 9-13 and 2-4 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will be back in action Saturday afternoon when it takes on Missouri Southern at home.
