Box Score The Lindenwood men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 sweep on Wednesday night against Quincy on the road. The Lions won by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-18 over the Hawks.
Despite getting off to a slow start, the Lions used a seven-point swing to give themselves the momentum and a 9-6 lead. Down 22-15, Quincy attempted to rally back late in the set, but the Lions made a stop with a kill by
Michael Adams.
Lindenwood started the second set better than it did in the first, jumping out to a 10-6 lead over the Hawks. Quincy rallied back to tie it up at 11-11, but a kill by
Scott Siwicki stopped the Hawks run. The Lions produced a six-point run late in the second set to go up 23-16. Lindenwood proceeded to end the set with another kill by Adams.
The momentum from sets one and two carried its way over into the third set for the visiting Lions. The only time Lindenwood relinquished its lead was early in the set at 5-4. Lindenwood quickly answered back and found itself up 12-8, forcing a Quincy timeout. The Lions finished the third set winning eight out of the last 12 points.
Colin Hackworth led the Lions with nine kills with one service ace, five digs, and four block assists. Siwicki recorded five block assists while
Logan Jarus had one solo block and three block assists.
Casey Calder led the team with seven digs.
The Lions hit .257 as a team while holding Quincy to just .093 on the evening. Lucas Kreienkamp of the Hawks led every player on the floor with 10 kills.
Lindenwood improves to 18-9 overall and 4-6 in the MIVA. The Lions will now take the next week and a half off before hosting IPFW on April 5. First serve at Hyland Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
