Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team gave up just one run in a two-game sweep of the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on Friday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo. The Lady Lions won game one 7-1 and game two 1-0.
Kristen Felker started the game in the circle for Lindenwood and threw all seven innings giving up five hits and striking out three.
Alexandra Newcomb led the team with three hits in three at bats.
Courtney Kitson and
Deidre Merli both drove in a pair of runs.
The home team started of the contest scoring a run in the first inning. The Lopers tied the contest up in the third but the tie did not last long as the home team put up two runs in the bottom half. The Lady Lions followed the two spot with a three-run frame to take 6-1 lead. Lindenwood added to the lead in the sixth and held on for the 7-1 victory.
The second game started with both teams putting up zeroes in the first two innings. The Lady Lions scored a run in the third which was the only run of the game.
Kendall Ryndak and
Morgan Colvis combined for a shutout while also striking out eight Lopers.
With the two-game sweep Lindenwood improves to 11-15 overall and 4-6 in MIAA play. The Lady Lions will be right back in action Saturday afternoon against Fort Hays State in St. Charles.
