Volleyball Travels To Fontbonne For A Pair Of Non-Conference Matches

• Lindenwood will travel just down the road to Fontbonne for a pair of non-conference matches against the Griffins and first-year program Belmont Abbey.

• The Lions traveled to the campus of Belmont Abbey earlier this season and defeated the Crusaders 3-0.

• Lindenwood is 2-0 all-time against Fontbonne.

• This is the only time this season that the Lions will take on Fontbonne and the last time this season Lindenwood will have a match against Belmont Abbey.

• First serve against Belmont Abbey is scheduled for 4 p.m. while first serve against the Griffins is scheduled for 6 p.m.

About the Crusaders
• Belmont Abbey is in its first season in program history.

• Head coach Mary DeJute is one of two females at the helm of a collegiate men's volleyball team.

• The Crusaders have a 7-9 overall record and a 3-8 mark in the Conference Carolinas.

• Nolan Albrecht leads the team with 137 kills this season, averaging 2.58 kills per set. Albrecht also is second on the team with 167 assists.

• Griffin O'Camb lead the team in service aces with 18 in 53 sets played.

• Belmont Abbey's last victory came against Emmanuel on the road on February 14. The Crusaders picked up the 3-0 sweep.

About the Griffins
• Fontbonne is under the direction of first-year head coach Mark Haston.

• Aaron Graue is leading the team in total kills with 60.

• Justin Winkelmann has recorded 144 total asissts, averaging 6.55 assists per set.

• Cody Schmelzle has tallied a team-high five solo blocks this season.

• Fontbonne averages 9.59 digs per set, almost an entire dig more that its opponents at 8.64 digs per set.

Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood is riding a 10-match winning streak that dates back to the 3-1 victory over conference opponent in Quincy on February 13.

• The Lions are averaging 12.2 kills per set compared to their opponents average of 11.1.

Colin Hackworth is leading the team with 3.31 kills per set in 48 sets played. The sophomore has recorded 159 kills this season.

• Hackworth ranks 26th in the nation in kills per set and sixth in the MIVA.

Tim Huizinga has tallied 27 service aces in just 41 sets played. That mark of 0.66 service aces per set puts him at the top of the list in all of NCAA Division I-II volleyball.

Tim Schmidt also finds himself on several of the top-30 lists in the nation. Currently, the Lindenwood setter is 19th in service aces and 20th in assists per set.

Scott Siwicki is fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at a clip of .409. The senior has tallied 67 kills with only 15 errors on 127 attempts.

• Lindenwood's middles Scott Siwicki and Logan Jarus are sixth in the conference in blocks per set. Both have recorded 43 total blocks in 38 sets played.

• The Lions have jumped up to third in the conference in opponent hitting percentage. Ball State leads the league, holding its opponents to .167 while the Lions hold their opponents to .199.

• The squad has improved to fifth in the conference in hitting percentage at a mark of .239.
• Lindenwood is second in the conference in service aces per set at a mark of 1.42.

LU Classic Recap
• The Lions picked up three, 3-0 victories over Carthage, King, and Limestone.

Colin Hackworth averaged 4.14 kills at a clip of .418 in seven sets this weekend.

Casey Calder recorded a team-high nine kills against King.

• The Lindenwood offense remained solid during the weekend, hitting .367, .364, and .388 against the three squads.

• Lindenwood moved to 9-1 against non-conference opponents.

David Poole's 11 digs against Limestone was the most amount of digs by any one Lindenwood player in a three-set match this season.

• The 58.0 points against Limestone and 54.5 point against King are the highest point totals in a three-set match for Lindenwood this season.

MIVA Conference
• Lindenwood is the eighth and newest member to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference.

• The Lions were picked seventh in the MIVA preseason poll.

• The Lions finished 3-6 against MIVA opponents last season, including 3-1 over the last four matches.

• Lewis remains the last undefeated team in conference play after upsetting Ohio State 3-0 at Ohio State.

• Lindenwood resumes its conference schedule on March 22 by hosting the Lewis Flyers. The Lions schedule will end with seven straight conference matches.

Next Up For The Lions
• Lindenwood will host Hannibal-LaGrange on March 12 at the Hyland Arena. First serve against the Trojans is scheduled for 7 p.m.

• The Lions will then travel to Quincy for the Quincy Crossover Tournament on March 15 and 16. While in Quincy, the Lions will have three contests against Lees-McRae, Erskine and Park.
