Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team set a new school scoring record in its home opener on Wednesday night at Hunter Stadium. The Lions scored seven more goals than their previous NCAA high during a 22-7 victory over Shorter.
After a close first 15 minutes, Lindenwood pulled away after outscoring Shorter by an 8-1 margin in the second quarter. The Lions continued to grow their lead in the second half when they outscored Shorter 11-3.
Lindenwood finished the game with a 60-23 advantage in shots, including a 35-14 mark in shots on goal. The Lions also had 19 more groundballs and won eight more faceoffs in the game.
Greg Cameron and
Carter McCracken each had five points. Cameron scored four times and had one assist, while McCracken had three goals and two assists.
Andrew Peterson and
Joe Roy also had three goals apiece.
Andrew Szczepan,
Kyle O'Donnell, and
Ben Beath all had two goals, and
Jon George had two assists to go along with one goal.
Dan Ashlock won his second straight start after making four saves in over 43 minutes in goal.
Graeme Hossack had a team-high 11 groundballs and he caused two turnovers.
Michael Helfant won 16-of-24 faceoffs and had three groundballs.
Lindenwood improves to 3-1 on the year. The Lions will next host Fontbonne this Saturday at 2 p.m.
