Box Score 2 Lindenwood baseball takes one out of two against Lincoln on Monday losing 7-6 in game one and winning game two 7-6.
The Lions put runs on the board early in game one as
Wade Rothermich drew a walk to start the game and was later driven in by a
Mike Failoni sacrifice fly.
In the second inning the Lions put up two more runs to increase the lead.
Mike Wilson hit a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Kyle Leslie hit the ball down the right field line for a double to drive in Wilson.
Ryan Light singled to center to bring Leslie in to score.
Lincoln scored one run in each of the next three innings to tie the game at 3-3 after four innings.
Lindenwood had a big fifth inning that was started off with a
Nick Kolley walk. Rothermich hit a double in the gap to drive in Kolley.
Colton Moore hit a two-out triple to bring in Rothermich. Moore later scored on a Wilson single and gave the Lions a 6-3 lead. Lincoln cut it to 6-4 after five innings.
The Lions could not close out the game as Lincoln scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to send the game into extra innings. Lincoln scored in the eighth inning to take game one 7-6.
Dylan Terrell started the game and threw 6 1/3 innings giving up six runs and ended his 22-game streak of striking out at least one batter in a game.
Game two was another close one. This time the Lions were down early giving up four runs in the first inning.
The Lions scored one in the third as Rothermich drove in Kolley on a single. With bases loaded in the fourth inning Light grounded out to second and Prindle scored to make it a 4-2 game after four innings.
Lindenwood had a big sixth inning that was started with a single by Wilson. Leslie doubled to left driving in Wilson.
Light walked and Kolley reached on a fielder's choice resulting in all runners being safe. Lincoln made a pitching change with bases loaded and no one out.
Rothermich was hit by a pitch to bring in Leslie.
Ben Coudret hit into a fielder's choice and Light was out at home.
Failoni continued his hitting streak placing the ball in center for an RBI single driving in Kolley. Moore reached on a fielding error by the third basemen which allowed Coudret and Rothermich to score. The Lions scored five runs making it a 7-4 game.
Brendan Kleekamp started the bottom of the fifth inning and recorded an out before being replaced by
Dalton Woodard. Kleekamp gave up seven hits and struck out three in his outing to earn his first victory on the year. Woodard earned his first save throwing 1 2/3 hitless innings.
Leslie went 4-for-6 on the day with three doubles and two RBI. Failoni extended his hitting streak to 22 games after going 3-for-7 on the day with one double and two RBI.
The split will put the Lions at 13-14 on the year with a 12-10 conference record. Lindenwood will host Harris-Stowe on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo. at the Lou Brock Sports Complex.
