Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to No. 25 Missouri Western on Sunday afternoon in St. Joseph, Mo. The Lady Lions lost game one 3-2 and game two 2-1.

Lindenwood jumped out to a quick lead in the opening game with a single tally in the top of the first inning. That one-run lead lasted until the fifth inning when the Griffins finally got on the scoreboard. The home team scored one run to tie the score.

The Lady Lions regained the lead in the top of the sixth but in the bottom half of the inning Missouri Western took the lead for good. The Griffins scored two runs on two hits and one error in the inning then struck out the side in the top of the seventh for the win.

Courtney Opich led the Lady Lions with two hits, two runs, and a RBI. Morgan Colvis started the game in the circle and went six strong innings giving up just one earned run and struck out three.

The second game of the day started with Missouri Western jumping out to the early lead. The Griffins scored a run in the first inning to take the 1-0 lead. Lindenwood tied the game up in the top of the sixth when Deidre Merli doubled into right center.

Unfortunately, the game didn't stay tied for long. Missouri Western hit two doubles in the seventh and scored the game-winning run.
Courtney Kitson, Opich, Merli, and Kenadall Ryndak all had a hit in the game.

After the sweep the Lady Lions drop to 18-22 overall on the season and 9-11 in conference play. Up next for the Lady Lions in the nationally ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Friday afternoon in St. Charles.
