Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team split a doubleheader with the No. 7 Central Oklahoma Bronchos on Friday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo. The Lady Lions won the first game 4-3 and fell in game two 6-1.
The opening game of the day started with both pitchers putting zeroes on the scoreboard. It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth when Lindenwood finally broke through. Kaitlyn Siebert hit a RBI single to score
Hannah Braun and
Alexandra Newcomb which gave the home team the 2-0 lead.
The Lady Lions added to the lead in the bottom of the fifth via a Kyndall Ryndak two-out two-run double over the leftfielder's head.
Central Oklahoma was trailing 4-0 but did not go down without a fight. The Bronchos scored three runs on three hits to cut the lead to one.
Morgan Colvis would come into the game in the seventh inning to try and close the door. Central Oklahoma put two runners on in the top of the seventh but could not bring across the tying run.
Ryndak started in the circle for Lindenwood and pitched six strong innings giving up two earned runs while striking out four.
Central Oklahoma did not take long in game two to take the lead. The Bronchos scored a run in the first, two in the second, and two more in the third. The Lady Lions scored their lone run in the second inning.
Kaye Keaton and Siebert led the team in game two with two hits each.
Alyssa Esperum drove in the home team's only run.
Kristen Felker started for Lindenwood and went five innings giving up three earned runs.
After the split the Lady Lions moved their record to 19-23 overall and 10-12 in MIAA play. Up next for Lindenwood will be a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon against Northeastern State.
