Lindenwood Volleyball Hosts IPFW And Ball State In Final Home Matches

• With four matches remaining on the 2013 schedule, the Lindenwood Lions are set to host IPFW and Ball State in back-to-back matches on April 5 and 6.

• Lindenwood owns a 1-0 record this season against the Mastodons and a 0-1 record against the Cardinals. The match earlier this season against IPFW was the first match between the two schools in program history.

• Ball State has a 5-1 advantage over the Lions coming into the match this weekend.

• These are the final two home matches of the season for Lindenwood. The team will celebrate Senior Night on Saturday against the Cardinals.

About the Mastodons
• This past week, the Mastodons picked up a pair of 3-1 victories over Pfeiffer and Limestone.

• Under the direction of head coach Arnie Ball, IPFW is 12-9 with four regular-season matches to play.

• Ball is in his 32rd year as the head coach of IPFW.

• Eddie Rivera is leading the team with 3.07 kills per set. The junior outside hitter has recorded 267 kills this season.

• Setter Omar Rivera primarily runs the IPFW offense, averaging 10.10 assists per set.

About the Cardinals
• In the most recent AVCA Division I-II Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, the Ball State Cardinals are coming in at No. 15 for the second-straight week this season.

• Coming into the weekend, the Cardinals are riding an eight-match win streak.

• Greg Herceg leads the squad with 254 total kills at 3.68 kills per set.

• Jamion Hartley comes in right behind Herceg in kills per set, averaging 3.50 in 40 sets played.

• Graham McIlvaine is first on the team in assists. The junior setter is averaging 10.04 assists per set.

• The start of the Cardinals eight-match win streak came with a 3-1 victory over No. 10 Penn State. During the run, the Cardinals also picked up a 3-0 victory against No. 8 Ohio State.

• Ball State currently leads the MIVA conference in opponent hitting percentage. The Cardinals are holding their opponents to just a .167 clip.

Lindenwood Notes
• With four games remaining on the 2013 schedule, the Lindenwood Lions are 18-9 overall and 4-6 in the MIVA.

Michael Adams recorded his 500th Lindenwood kill and 100th block against Quincy last Wednesday.

Colin Hackworth is leading the team and is seventh in the conference with 3.31 kills per set.

Scott Siwicki is leading the conference in hitting percentage with a mark of .423.
• Three Lindenwood players are in the conference top-10 in service aces per set. Tim Huizinga is second in the MIVA with an average of 0.54 service aces per set. Hackworth comes in at number four and Tim Schmidt is seventh.

• Lindenwood is fourth in the nation in service aces per set. Only Mount Olive, Coker, and conference rival Loyola-Chicago have a higher mark than the Lions.

Tim Schmidt is 21th in the nation in assists per set with 9.94.

David Poole is fifth in the conference in digs per set with 2.35.

• Lindenwood is seventh overall in the conference in team hitting percentage with a mark of .235. The Lions are holding their opponents to a .193 mark, which is good enough for third in the conference.

MIVA Conference
• Lindenwood is the eighth and newest member to the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association conference.

• The Lions were picked seventh in the MIVA preseason poll ahead of Quincy. Ball State and IPFW were picked fifth and sixth in the preseason poll.

• The Lions finished 3-6 against MIVA opponents last season, including 3-1 over the last four matches.

Next Up For The Lions
• The Lions will wrap up the 2013 season at Grand Canyon on April 11 and 13. Lindenwood will not be eligible for the MIVA conference tournament due to its provisional status.
