Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team went on the road to start its final road trip of the season on Saturday afternoon and started in Topeka, Kan. against Washburn. The Lady Lions fell in game one 6-1 and in game two 10-3.

Game one of the day started with Lindenwood scoring the game's first run in the top of the first inning. The Lady Lions lead lasted until the bottom of the first inning when the Lady Blues tied the score up at one.

Mallory Eitel led the offense with two hits in two at bats. Courtney Opich was responsible for the Lady Lions only run when she connected on her second home run of the season.

The second game of the day was all Washburn from the first inning. The Lady Blues scored three runs in the first inning then one in the third to take an early lead. Lindenwood cut into the lead with a two-run inning but Washburn kept its foot on the gas pedal. The team scored four runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to roll to a 10-3 win.

Courtney Kitson led the team with two hits while Alyssa Esperum drove in a pair of runs.

After the doubleheader sweep the Lady Lions dropped to 19-29 overall and 10-16 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will end its 2013 season on Sunday against Emporia State in Emporia, Kan.
