Box Score The Lions lacrosse team dropped an ECAC contest on Saturday afternoon with a 14-13 road setback at Lake Erie.
Lindenwood jumped out to a huge lead in the game and took an 8-2 advantage with a goal early in the second period. Lake Erie's offense exploded though with eight goals for the rest of the period and the Lions trailed 10-9 at halftime.
After a combined 19 goals in the first half, both teams' scoring slowed down in the second half. The Storm took a 13-10 lead at the 4:52 mark of the third period, but the Lions got back into the game with back-to-back man-advantage goals. Lindenwood then tied the game with 11:29 left in the fourth quarter with a goal by
Joe Roy.
Lake Erie quickly retook the lead with a goal just 40 seconds later. The Storm then held possession for most of the remaining 10 minutes. Lindenwood's best chance came in the final minute when Lake Erie committed a penalty, but the Lions could not get a shot on goal before committing a turnover that essentially ended the game.
Lake Erie had a 46-33 shot advantage and a picked up four more groundballs than the Lions. Lindenwood committed 26 turnovers, compared to 17 for the Storm.
Brandon Stuebing led Lindenwood's offense with six goals and two assists.
Carter McCracken had four points with a goal and three assists.
Greg Cameron had two goals and an assist, and Roy scored twice.
Matt Schenk and
Jon George each had a goal and an assist.
John Pettis led the defense with six groundballs and three caused turnovers.
Jake Redlingshafer made 12 saves in goal.
