Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team won its first game of the season Friday afternoon beating Bellarmine 3-1.
This was the third straight road game for the Lady Lions having dropped the first two against teams in the top five in the national polls.Â
Lindenwood fell behind early in the game when it conceded a goal in the 26th minute to the Knights. The Lady Lions responded from this goal in a big way. Senior
Kristi O'Connor got the Lady Lions on the board a little over two minutes after Bellarmine found the net.Â
Kelsey Musson provided the assist for the O'Connor's goal. O'Connor's score gave her a team-high three goals in three games.
A minute after the tying goal from O'Connor came the eventual game-winning goal. Sophomore
Ashton Lichvar put the Lady Lions ahead for the first time this season with her unassisted shot and score.
For good measure, 33 seconds into the second half
Tara Robben notched her first goal of the season giving Lindenwood the lead 3-1, which would be the final.
The win brought Lindenwood to 1-2 on the season. Next up for the Lady Lions is a Sunday morning showdown against Bloomsburg on the campus of Bellarmine. Â
